This image of Raphaella by Faye was made last summer and is our first large Platinum/Palladium print.  We also show an image of the original digital negative that was used to make this image which is 14″ x 20″.  The finished image has been archivally mounted, matted and presented in a hand stained, waxed frame.

This is one of a Limited Edition of 10. Signed, dated and stamped with the studio logo.  Platinum/Palladium print­ing involves hand-coating fine cotton-rag papers with an emul­sion con­tain­ing plat­inum and/or pal­la­dium metals. These prints are the most archival form of pho­to­graphs ever made. Plat­inum/palladium prints are gen­er­ally char­ac­ter­ised by a slightly warm tone and a very long tonal range unmatched by any other medium and which per­fectly matches the vis­ion we have  for our images. A couple of weeks ago while hosting another workshop Faye and I  found these fantastic doors at Freemasons Hall in Edinburgh’ George Street and thought that we should use them one day for one of our Fine Art Nudes. We had Carla Monaco visit us on Monday for a session on Tuesday for N-Photo magazine and so on the evening of bank holiday Monday  we drove into Edinburgh with Carla. Faye had already styled Carla’s hair before we left Claremont so it was simply going to be a matter of picking our moment! Though chilly it was a lovely evening with little wind however George Street was not as quiet as we had anticipated. Plenty of tourists and tour buses! Not to be deterred we parked outside the building and waited for the ‘coast’ to clear which it did but only for very brief periods and that was only on our side of the street as we tended to forget that pedestrians also walked on the other side of George St! After a few abortive starts due to passing buses and pedestrians we eventually managed to do two very short sessions, and I do mean short. Carla did mention afterwards about a bus that passed on the opposite side but she was to busy concentrating that she did not see if anybody spotted her and even if they did who would ever believe somebody who claimed to have seen a nude model posing in one of Edinburgh busiest streets on a Monday evening! Faye of course was close at hand with a robe just in case! I love how Faye has processed this image in our signature style.

All places have now been sold for our 2 workshops @ Pipewell Hall. We still have 2 places remaining on the 14th of July here in Scotland. We are currently looking at new workshop dates for August and September and once finalised will post here and on Facebook.  This is one of Faye’s images from a workshop here last summer.

Well from a brief Facebook conversation earlier today it looks like we are about to embark on a mini tour of the States. Starting in New England before moving over to Chicago and then over to the west, Boise, Idaho. Still looking at further workshop options before we finally fix dates and then work out travel logistics but Jilly our PA is used to dealing with that. We will be working with groups of 10-12 delegates, 10.00am through to 5.00pm with professional art nude models. I think all workshops will be held on location outdoors but that has still to be confirmed. This will all take place August/September and we think we will be away for between 4 and 6 weeks depending on the final number of workshops. If you are interested in hosting one in the States drop me an email with location and we can look into it in more detail. We are hoping to have dates/venues all set in stone by the end of the month. In the meantime our wonderful web maestro, Barrie, will put up a page with the various workshop location so you can register interest and be first to receive the confirmed dates etc. Thanks must go to Nylora for that initial contact followed by Katie and Carolyn. We are delighted to have been invited to do a short presentation @ the Scottish Photovision Roadshow which takes place at the Royal Highland Centre – Ingliston – Edinburgh next Tuesday, the 26th of March. The title of our talk is simply the Fine Art Nude. Loxley’s have kindly offered to make 2 new display images for us so we are looking forward to seeing what they do. This was an image done following our final workshop in Lanzarote. It was at the entrance of the hotel from the pool area and as such had a constant stream of traffic so we only had a brief moment to capture this image with those great shadows.
